Ham radio is a HOBBY. It is not job, nor is it a right, but a privilege to use the airways for your own personal enjoyment. Talk with other around the world or use your computer for digital communications. Have you ever wanted to leave email onboard the Russian Space station Mir? Well you can once you're licensed. Using Iphone software you can also talk over repeaters located in other cities and countries from the comfort of your home computer. All you need is a microphone, sound card and internet connection. If you're interested in helping with disaster and emergency communications, we do that too! Ham radio operators are everyday women, men and children. There are no age limits, nor are there any special technical skills required. Hams are everyday kind of people...farmers and teachers, bricklayers and plumbers, and even a few (read lots) Armed Forces folks. You don't have to be earning large incomes to enjoy the hobby as even with a simple handheld radio you can talk to someone in Saskatoon or Regina, Swift Current or Moose Jaw from nearly anywhere in the province.
